29-Day Giving Challenge

I am here marveling at the thought that I am a mother.  It has been a difficult journey with many mountains and valleys.  Through it all I kept focused on my dream of being a mother.

Henry Zane Walker Foster was born a month early by Cesarean March 5, 2013 at 11:30 pm.  He is still in the hospital but is improving and gaining weight everyday.

Kevin has been amazing.  He is here at the hospital everyday, all day long and into the night.  He spends most of his time with Henry, bonding with him, caring for him and just being a fantastic Daddy.  He is very supportive of me too.  We are a family and I am very happy.

I am healing from surgery and being treated for postpartum depression and high blood pressure.  The doctors soon will be able to start treating my MS again now that Henry is here.

Although my giving is on a different level while I am in the hospital, I am still able to give.  I gave a caring member of my health team a magnet and compact yesterday. She has been kind and attentive while I have been here.  I am looking forward to my giving days with my son and then expanding out to the community again.

Before Henry was born Kevin and I moved back to the Denver area to be close to family as we start off our family life.  I am still on medical leave, but I anticipate returning to work on a reduce schedule.

I talked to Elly Rose yesterday and she shared some tips that I can use while trying to bring my blood pressure down and remain calm as I ponder the changes I am facing.

She shared a calming way to meditate, anytime, anywhere.  Place your hands in prayer position with the fingers flat against each other.  Start with a couple of deep cleansing breathes.  Then concentrate on your fingers and breathing.  Breath in peace, breath out chaos.  Breath in joy, breath out fear.  Just repeat the breathing until you are feeling calmer.  Allow yourself to feel centered and worthy of peace.

She also gave me a hand position from her Reiki experience that helps with calming yourself.  Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your shoulder.  Ask that the energy will flow and it will begin to flow.  Sit with this position until you start to feel relaxed.  I thank Elly Rose for this advice and she gave me permission to share it with all of you.

I also want to thank my Welcome Wagoneer Team and Deb the Community Manager.  They are a tireless group that keep this site running and without these dedicated volunteers I would have had to close this wonderful site. Thank you with all of my heart.

Thank you to all of you that kept Kevin, Henry and I in your prayers.  I ask you for continued prayers and energy for my family.
