Hi all and hope you are all ready for an early Fall. The Locusts around here have been chirping since the end of June. They say 6 weeks after you hear them you get your first frost. I don't think that is going to happen, but I do think it will be early.
I want to wish Elly Rose a great BIG WELCOME BACK! She is one special lady if some of you don't know her take time to do so. I have met some of my best friends on this site and hope all of you who read this are as fortunate as I am to know so many of them.
The latest saga on my son is that I finally heard from him for the 1st time in about 3 or 4 months. I knew where he was and had talked to him thru his roommates. He is not working at this time, but doesn't seem to be to worried about finding a job. He is just getting to many unreliable on his record which is going to hurt him finding a good job. But that is his life not mine. He sold his vehicle to pay his roommate back and get his phone hooked back up. He wants to come out here with his roommate in 2 weeks which is just a few days before his birthday. I am not getting my hopes up to high.
For the last 5 days I have been helping my neighbor across the street shuck sweet corn. His son had planted quite a few rows as it was a new kind and up higher where racoons and coyotes couldn't get to it. It was also no weeds in the rows that helped a lot for the pickers. I can't do that part. But it was enjoyable for the days we shucked it. There was another friend of mine that was there that helped and the Man of the house. His wife didn't hardly show her face outside. She wasn't feeling well I guess. He is the neighbor I used to help water his flowers and garden when they would go to Kansas where she lives. But it just got to be to much for me as my asthma is getting worse it seems. I was born with it and then it kind of let up for about 30 years and now is back. I am on Oxygen at night. Back to my story. But anyway now when they are gone my friend Mary K does that and she would go out and help pick sweet corn this year and help shuck. She is also the one who picks up my recycling about every 2 or 3 weeks. I have a big a tote I use and have the plastic separate from the rest. She is on the go a lot and seems to be helping someone all the time. She got the Good Neighbor award last year for the fair. I don't think anyone in town could argue that.
School starts here the 15th this next Wednesday. Every year it is earlier because of sports. They always want to start training so early for that and the first game will soon be here. The same with volley ball and girls golf. It will be an interesting year in sports for here. Lots of new people, coaches and kids. I just hope it is a safe year for all.
