My First Day - Giving in an Unexpected Area

I found it difficult to decide what to give on my first day. There seems to be such a need everywhere I look! In honor of my mother-in-law, I chose to give in an area that I never typically would. My mother-in-law is a huge dog-lover. While my heart is often drawn towards causes that support people, especially children or those with health challenges, she always chooses animal causes. It honestly has bothered me in the past that she would give to Golden Retrievers before those suffering in Haiti. I realize we all have our calling though, and it is important to recognize those needs outside of our own interests. Today, I gave a monetary gift to all of the collection jars lined up on the counter while waiting at the vet's...something I would have never done in the past. While I was standing there irritably waiting to pay a $100 vet bill for my dog, I just knew that was the place for my first gift. I was in such a bad mood, and then I realized I was thinking too much about my own problems versus others who are in need. Time to give!

You gave lovely gifts and it is tough at times but it will get easier. I find that giving to others helps me to forget all I face. You are doing so well. Don't be so tough on yourself Crystal!

I agree with Lois, stretching ourselves is a big part of giving. It was a nice gift you gave to the animals. xoxo

Very good first give....sometimes we need to stretch ourselves, don't we? I know there will be lots of causes close to your heart that will benefit by you in future. Take good care, have a blessed Saturday...hoping the weather is beautiful where you are.
