29-Day Giving Challenge

There's an annual food drive going on all over the state, and State employees bring in thousands of pounds of food each year for local food banks. Since I work at a state university, there's a collection box in our office, too. It's been looking kind of lonesome and empty, so I put some canned food in a bag and took it in this morning. Hubby seems to pick up a can or two of baked beans just about every time we grocery shop, and they've been accumulating, so there were quite a few to add to the box, as well as some veggies and some canned chicken.

I almost thought I wasn't going to make it to my early morning lab today. The rear tire of my car had a leak and was almost flat. I know how to change a tire and have a spare, but if I did that I'd surely be late. But fortunately I had a can of Fix-a-flat in the emergency kit. It was enough to patch the leak, put air in the tire, and get me on my way after a quick stop at the gas station for more air. I stopped at the tire store on the way home to get it fixed. Our local chain fixes tires for free, knowing it's a sure way to build community goodwill and bring in more customers. So while my morning started with stress, it ended with a gift for me.

Needless to say, I stopped at a store and picked up two more cans of Fix-a-flat. Magical stuff.

Ah! Isn't it satisfying when things that go around come around? And I love the food drive idea, I hope it all goes well.

I am so glad that your day turned out well.  The food for the food bank is great.  The need is so huge for so many now.
