The fair department superintendents met this morning at a restaurant and over breakfast we discussed this year's county fair and started making plans for next year's. If the State fair is trying to reduce the open-class competitions, we're going to pick them up and increase fair attendance by increasing community participation. That will get people in the door -- step 2 is give them more things to do once they're there. We're working on ideas for that. Because I see to be the one full of bright ideas, I was asked to fill a vacant seat on the fair board. Okay -- we'll see how that goes, but I think that as far as time is concerned it's a modest commitment that I can do.
Went to the pet store and stocked up on cat food. There's a new one open just blocks from my house -- yay, no more trekking across town, trying to stock up for two weeks! I made an at-register donation for pet shelters.
When I got home, I got all my jars of currant juice out of the refrigerator and started to work on jelly. Now I have rows of tiny 4 oz and slightly larger half-pint jars on the counter, all for a total of 9 1/2 pints of currant jelly. Yum!
