29-Day Giving Challenge

New Round 7, Days 21 and 22: Planning, calming, and donations

Day 21: Spent part of the morning with other superintendents of the County Fair, coming up with a plan for a new arrangement of the main building. Right now there are commercial booths right as people walk in, and some people walk right past them and out of the building, thinking the whole building is just commercial stuff. We want to get the photography and art exhibits front and center, giving people something colorful and inviting when they first walk to draw them in, with some activities near the front as well, so they will look at the rest of the exhibits and pass the commercial booths as they move through the building.

We also have a situation in the knitting group where a member with some issues has sort of exploded all over the messages boards, and people have responded as one might expect people to respond. I spent a little time helping to defuse that as quickly as possible.

Day 22: Spent part of the morning at the Farmer's Market and bought a half-flat of berries, some locally-made cheese, and some eggs from free-range chickens. Gave some money to a violinist who was performing. When I got to knitting group there was a lot of natter about the situation in the group, and I listened to what people had to say and did what I could to move past that. Helped a new member, someone I've known for a little while, finish her sock by showing her how to graft the stitches on the toe. On the way home, I bought cat food and did an at-register donation. This evening the person who had the blow-up called me, and we're going to meet for a bit later in the week. I have some things of hers from the fair to give back to her, and I'll see how she's feeling.
