29-Day Giving Challenge

I am still trying to lose weight, and it's not coming off nearly as quick as I hoped it would. (In spite of all the major changes I've made: no gluten, no dairy, and no more of my beloved red wine) A friend suggested a pedometer: where you try and add more steps each day. I went to Walgreens to see what they had, and the manager told me where they were. It turned out they had been moved, so I was milling about trying to find them when he came around the corner again. He asked if I was looking for an expensive pedometer, and I said "No, not at all. In fact, all of these are currently out of my price range." (the cheapest one was $23.00) He asked me to wait a moment, and came out with a little box. "Here you go!" he said, enthusiastically. I asked how much it was, and he said "I'm giving it to you, free of charge!" I could not believe it! "Thank you so much! You have totally made my day!" I told him. I left the store with a big smile on my face. When I got outside, there was a young couple and their dog hanging around in front of the store. Even tho I had already given a gift today, I decided to give a little more. I took a paper sack and put in some trail mix, a granola bar, some cheese crackers and five bucks. I explained to them how generous the store manager had been to me, and that I wanted to "pay it forward" to them.

Then Bonsai and I went on a very brisk half mile walk to try out the new pedometer! It works great! The cool thing is: I wasn't even going to stop at Walgreens tonight, but a little voice told me to go. Whenever I listen to that little voice, magic happens! Try it and you'll see what I mean!

So good to hear from you M. My boss always says less energy in, more energy out and I guess if we think of the food we eat as energy and make some changes, especially looking at low GI foods we will reap some benefits. Often it is our clothes that will tell us first, because you will actually firm up and become trimmer. A great day of giving!
