Finally I'm feeling mostly back to normal. The past few days have been a doozy emotionally. I worked most of today, though - of course - I took a break to go for a walk. On the waterfront, I saw a homeless man up ahead and decided it was time to give the grocery gift card I've been carrying around. I rummaged through my backpack till I found it (took a while!) and pulled out a granola bar, then walked up and gave both items to him. He looked so happy when I explained what the card was. That felt good.
There were a couple of other really small things, but that was the intentional gift. Oh, and I picked up about 20 lbs of goodies for the soup kitchen. It was more than I could fit in my freezer!
I received a very nice response to a resume I sent out. This man had asked for a specific sample, which I wasn't able to send him because of my friend/client's confidentiality agreement (it might have been fine, but I didn't want to take the risk, and I didn't feel like I could ask her). So I'd written back a lengthy reply explaining my dilemma, and I hadn't heard from him again - and then today, I did. I'm not sure whether it will be a fit (the subject matter this group focuses on isn't my area of expertise), but the guy wants to schedule a call for the week after next. He was very kind about my portfolio, and overall, it just felt really nice. And it made me feel like, "Okay, work will come from somewhere."
Hope you all had wonderful Saturdays. Cheers! (And enjoy the meteor shower if you can!)

Comment by Dawn wwt on August 12, 2012 at 1:07pm i think it's a very good sign that he was nice about your 'sample dilemma'. it may well be that that made him think better of you and your ethical standards. anyway, i'm glad that you took away the feeling of confidence that work WILL come, because it will. just as you came along and gave the homeless man the grocery card, someone (perhaps as yet unknown, maybe someone you know now) will come through with just the right job for you. Love and Hugs, Dawn
As usual you gave gifts that truly make a difference. I am sending positive energy and thoughts that you will find just the right job(s) for you very soon.
You were very generous to the man.....and the soup kitchen is going to really benefit from the goodies! My fingers are crossed that this job prospect happens for you.....take care, you are loved and cared for! xoxo
Good luck! Hope it all works out for you!
