Today's been up and down. Anxiety keeps barging in, though on the bright side, I managed to get some of my own writing done, so that was exciting. Not much, but it's a start.
Gifts: I left a Post-it note on a washroom mirror. As always, I wrote what I needed to hear:
I was over on the small island, and when I came to take the boat back, a man stopped me and began asking me a dozen different questions. He was visiting from Anaheim, and he was so speedy that I was a bit taken aback. The "pickle boat" (12-passenger foot ferry) wasn't on schedule. I didn't tell him that this town is nicknamed Slownaimo, and that even the bus schedules are an estimate. I told him the boat was on its way, and I pointed out to the harbour. He pulled out two maps and asked what I thought he should see with the remaining four hours of his visit. I mentioned a park and commented on his (nice) camera; he said in a breathless rush, "I never go back to the same place twice, so I have to have documentation." I kind of wanted to say, "Don't forget to enjoy the scenery while you're here!" His whole energy was in such stark contrast to the laid-back pace of this place. On the ride back, he asked me exactly how to get there and what he should look for; I did my best to help him out, but he'd just spent the day at the most beautiful place this area has to offer, so even the park wasn't going to measure up. I figured my gift was both information and just...trying to be a calming presence.
I decided to do my planned give anyway - I'd ordered coupons online from save.ca, so I went to the grocery store and placed each one on the shelf with its respective item. The grocery store didn't have all the items, so I went to the pharmacy and left more coupons there. That was fun.
Hope you all had a good Friday! Cheers!

Comment by Dawn wwt on September 16, 2012 at 5:11pm i feel bad for people like that, they are going so fast they miss most of the good stuff. i mean really, why even bother going somewhere if you're not going to take the time to even look? *stepping down off my soapbox*
i love your little post-it note. i wish i'd find one like that now and then. guess i'd better get to posting them myself LOL! Hugs, Dawn xoxo
You had a nice day with lovely gifts. Wishing you happiness~ xoxo
Comment by Aunty Nean on September 14, 2012 at 11:35pm That was really kind of you to put the coupons out-you put effort into that. I like how you put what you need on the post-it. So often others are in the same boat as us and we just don't know it. And now it is out in the universe for you.
He was fortunate to find you for information. Your patience and listening ear was a great gift to him.He sounds like he needs to stop and smell the roses once in awhile! I would love to be able to visit your part of the world, it sounds awesome! And the coupon gives are so helpful...i love planting coupons..Take care, bless you and have a restful evening...xoxo
