29-Day Giving Challenge

Today was another mostly solitary, mostly indoors day. This morning, I took the week's muffins and scones to the soup kitchen. Then I went for a walk and placed a quarter on a wall. I answered one man's question about the time and another's about the bus. But that was pretty much it.

So this evening, I decided to make the rounds of click-to-give sites:

  • I clicked on most of the Greater Good sites (each click corresponds to donations in several different areas)
  • I played Free Rice up to 1000 grains (vocabulary game; for each correct answer, they donate 10 grains of rice)
  • And I went to We Give Books and read a children's book about turkeys (that book will then be donated to a literacy program)

This morning, I tried to focus on work, and I just couldn't. So my gift to myself was to take my own advice (since I'm writing about this) and go for a walk, relax and come back to it when I felt less stressed. Lo and behold, late this afternoon, I managed to do far more work in 30 minutes than I had in two hours this morning. That's not surprising to me - it's been my experience over and over again that pushing my brain doesn't work - but it always pleases me when it works out.

Thank you all again for your support. Hope everybody had a good Friday, and happy weekend! Cheers!
