It has been a while since my last post - I had an accident and hurt my left ankle. I ended up in A&E and living at my mum's for the last 6 weeks, as I live along in a flat on the first floor with steep steps!
So, I am thankful for the time spent with mum and her wonderful care and time to think, read and recover. I am also thankful that I didn't break any bones, just really bad bruising and pulled tendons on the same ankle I hurt a couple of years ago - i believe I was 'knocked off my feet' for purpose.
I missed being able to 'give' secret xmas pressies as I couldn't leave the house and missed the xmas fun!
So I wrote thanks and lovely comments in cards and sent 'good thoughts'.
I haven't kept a diary of giving per day:
I decided to have the biggest clear out and decided to donate 50 bags of toys, craft, useful items to a wonderful charity that helps local people with housing, advice, food bank. I like this charity as they really do make a difference and handle everyone and everything with care and a lovely manner. This was hard as I was attached to some of the items, but remembered reading Cami's book - to give up something that you are attached too ( like the jeans) and it did feel good that it would make a change to someone.
It took many days (10 days) to sort out as most of the stuff was stock for my business, but I now have a clearer stock room and can find things quickly, with a smile and happy sense of giving.
I also gave a couple of bags of 'goodies' to a friend for a couple of young boys - I thought a gift of craft activities would give her a little time for herself or a change to do something else - she loved it!
I gave a set of pictures to friend that loved boats, I was quite emotionally attached to them,as they have been on the walls since I was a child.
I gave up some projects that I wouldn't finish for a while - it felt good, releasing the preasure to finish them.
I shreded old files and released old ties and gave myself a break from keeping old memories of finished projects I no longer needed, making space for new projects to come in! It reminded me of some of the difficult projects and people I have dealt with and came out of the other side stronger and proud I stuck the course.
I gave my fashion portfolio to a neighbour's daughter, whom has just started studying fashion with a range of books
I gave a range of books to a local teacher to inspire crafty projects for the kids
I gave a bag of material to lady who enjoys sewing
I gave the garage a good clean ( home of my business stuff) the energy in there feels better and I feel happier i can find things quickly. I have given most of my stuff away, so I can work on my other love - mosaics.
Little things of giving I have done - letting someone in front of me in a line in a shop, in traffic when driving, giving complements and encouragement, nice messages on facebook, free coaching, making cushions for a friend, writing a reference for a friend, making a cup of tea
Giving myself some time for enjoying a bubbly bath, reading a book, drawing and cooking.
I have recieved help in clearing up, yum food, get well messages and loads of support from mum.
I plan to keep blogging within thsi round of giving more regularly now I'm back at home with a laptop and internet!
