Round 2 – Day 3

Simple pleasures

I am really fortunate to have gained a before/after school care position.  I love it...the hours are perfect for studying, I work at a great school surrounded by positive people, the children are lovely and it’s fabulous experience on my resume.  I am really grateful for how much I am learning through this position, it provides me with an opportunity to interact and learn from children of different ages.

Yesterday my boss was complaining of low energy.  I have an energising herbal tea blend at home, so I took some in for both of today us so we could enjoy a cup of tea together as we started our day.

Yesterday afternoon I had a skipping challenge in the afternoon with the children.  It was so much fun!  There was a little girl in grade one who was frightened to join in, after some encouragement and praise she joined in and really surprised herself.  I got all of the kids to line up and they jumped along with her on the sideline as she tried, as soon as she succeeded and made it over they all cheered and gave her a big clap.  This morning when she came in I made a point of telling her how I was so impressed to see how well she did, especially considering that she originally said she can’t do it!   I believe that it’s so important to create an environment where children feel safe to ‘have a go’ and nothing makes me happier than seeing children encourage each other.  This was a gift for me too!

It’s a rainy day here on the Gold Coast, so this afternoon I am giving myself a gift of rest.  Perfect weather to snuggle on the couch with my dogs and enjoy a good book!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!  x

Yes - that's my Aussie lingo.  Skipping is the same as jumping rope!  Thanks for the comments x

Loved the skipping story.  Is that the same as jumping rope?  I was a very shy kid, so I can appreciate the story.

I wish adults would clap for a job well done like kids do. Just think of how much more productive the world would be. :)

You are blessed to have the job that you do, how awesome! The kids encouraging and supporting each other is wonderful to read about...they are building such great character, supporting each other like they are..
