29-Day Giving Challenge

It's Friday. No TGIF this term -- on Fridays I've got two 2-hour labs back to back, followed by a noon meeting, followed by an hour lecture, followed by another lab. Today I got to the meeting with my lunch bag, only to find that while I'd packed the container of fruit and the container of salad that I'd cleverly prepared the night before, I'd neglected to pack a frozen container of dinner leftovers that I keep on hand for lunches. And while there's a snack machine with peanuts -- at least they'd have protein -- the machine wasn't working. By mid-afternoon I was running on caffeine and will power. On the way home got myself a small order of sweet potato fries at Burgerville (our local chain, uses local produce, veggie options, fast food done right), and now I've got purring cats in my lap, my knitting, and I watched all of the Simon's Cat videos.

Is it summer yet?

I also rescued two hay bales that have been sitting at the far end of the parking lot for a few weeks now. I think they were had something to do with the recent construction project, and got left behind, because they didn't seem to be serving any particular purpose, and were just slowly decomposing and cluttering up the parking lot. I'll use them for Halloween decoration, then for garden mulch.
