Today was a wonderful day of plentiful giving. I took my buddy Bob with me to the Beauty School and Laundromat for haircuts and clean clothes. (I got a brand new Betty Page hairdo with really short bangs from the 40's) While my clothes were drying, I was out front getting a paper and I saw a guy asking for a ride to the bus stop. He had a broken arm and various health issues and couldn't make the walk. I saw several people turn him down, and then I offered to drive him. He really appreciated it. Later on I picked wild berries for my friend Pat who loves berries but can't hike anymore. (thimbleberries and blackberries) She was thrilled. On my way home a lady was working the sign, and I gave her a bag of trail mix. The sun had gone down and she was quite distressed and asked if I had a blanket. I drove around the block and parked and she came over and told me what was going on with her. She said she had just gotten out of jail and was homeless and never had been so before. I told her the blankets in my car were my dog's blankets which I had just washed. I smelled one and it smelled fine and was no longer covered in dog hair, so I gave it to her.
(I knew Bonsai wouldn't mind) ;) She was so very appreciative! I gave her a hug and said some prayers for her. I really wish I could do more. But I hope she feels loved, and that things start looking up for her. I feel honored that she felt comfortable asking me for a blanket. It feels good to know that I come across to people as someone who cares.

Hey congrats on the haircut & thanks for sharing the photo.
But hey these stories... wow, especially going out of your way for strangers.
I noticed that phrase "working the sign"... haven't heard it put that way before, but I knew just what you meant. I wrote just the other day about giving some food to a girl with a sign under an overpass, from the window of my car as the light was changing to green, wondering if ever someday I might be brave enough to pull over & ask them what's really going on. And here's an example of somebody who actually *did*. Thanks: I needed that.
Hello beautiful! Love the pic, you and the new do. Bless you for the gifts given from the heart <3
