Today was our last chance to get to the State Fair, so we took the time this afternoon to go. There are a lot of silly changes to the Open Class rules that sadly reduced the entries down to 1/4 of what they were last year. The fair board is getting an earful about that! But we did go and look at entries that friends had put in, took in the animal barns, strolled through the artist's area, and all the good participatory stuff that makes the fair for me. While in the artist's area, I saw a woman who was manning a friend's yarn dyeing booth struggling to learn to spin. I stopped and helped her by showing how I draft the fiber, diagnosing her current problem (overspinning, causing the yarn to break), and helped her get going again.
