I usually have such big plans at the start of summer, but now that my summer course is over and fall term isn't for several more weeks, I'm feeling summer inertia. I need to get the cats to the vet, I need to schedule my own medical maintenance... sigh... I do give myself time for myself but when there are things that need done I need to use my time better. Today I gave myself permission to write, first doing some academic writing as I finally put together a small research proposal for an idea that a colleague and I would like to work on, then permission to stop writing for the day because I can only write for so long before my brain goes, "And that's quite enough." Then I gave myself some time at the spinning wheel when I got home, and permission to spend some time doing some personal writing -- and again permission to stop even though I only got one page done, because my brain was finished with the idea and I need to think over the next scene some more. I went onto Ravelry to peruse friend's projects and left compliments on those that were particularly striking. And now I'm going to give myself some knitting time on a new project, and permission to abandon a project that I started but isn't working out. The gauge is off, the sock clearly isn't going to fit over my heel, and I think the yarn wants to be something else anyway. It's off to the frog pond. ("Frogging" a project is unravelling it because you "rip it! rip it!")

We all need some time to ourselves and it sounds like u deserved it.
Sounds like you are very busy. Take care and enjoy things you love as you go!
It's hard to believe summer is coming to an end....take care in getting the things done before getting busy with the new school term. I'm glad you are fitting in some things that you enjoy:)
