The doorbell is ringing over and over (sending the cats into hiding) as costumed cherubs arrive in droves. We've got a soft-sculpture pumpkin full of candy, with more refills waiting, and are handing out generous handfuls. Giving on Halloween in this neighborhood is pretty easy.
However, I had another give this morning. I'm the first to teach labs for one class, and we've got a brand new lab that our series coordinator wrote but is untested. Well... there were unclear bits and some incorrect instructions for doing the calculations, and some parts where students needed more scaffolding. So when my students couldn't make heads or tails of the calculations, we worked together to write out a clear set of instructions, which I typed up for the other instructors. I also designed an organizer for the data they're collecting today and sent that out to everyone, and made a picture guide to the pond organisms they're looking at.

You are a blessing in your students lives.
Hissy Stich -- You are a wonderful role model and mentor for your students and always reach out to the other instructors to give a helping hand as well. Happy Halloween.
Your students are very fortunate to have an instructor such as yourself!
