Wow. August is half gone and students everywhere are cracking the books. In August, we are encouraging 29 Givers to Support Education -- and giving you 29 creative ways to lend a hand.

I can identify with anyone studying hard to get the jump on your classes. I am on deadline myself this month. I owe the rewrite on my proposal for book two to my agent and editor the end of this month. Hopefully I will be blessed  with an advance offer because I am SO ready to move into a house but can't afford much until this second book sells. For the better part of the past year, I have been living in a 450-square foot apartment with Kevin (my boyfriend who I love dearly) and our two dogs. My dog, Charlie, is 4.5 pounds so he really doesn't get in the way. But Ani, Kevin's Husky, is fifty pounds of nothing but fur. We think we may have found the house we want this weekend. It is a rental (buying is put off again) nearly 1,000 square feet, plus a BACK YARD for Ani. Charlie will love the backyard space too, but Ani will be a crazy loon out in her own personal dog run. It is in a Denver neighborhood I like a lot. We will know by Sept 1 if we get the place. Fingers crossed. In the meantime, my daily gift is to sweep our apartment two times a day to try and keep up with Ani's shedding. Kevin brushes her for hours and it doesn't slow down the balls of white fur that collect everywhere. I really can't wait til Ani has her own doggie door.
