29-Day Giving Challenge

Yesterday was my Day 2...a Feral Adventure!!

Ironic that it was yesterday I was feeling grumpy and like I wasn't getting started well.

After a meeting with my husband helping him define the specs of the application he is developing we came home to collect our daughter from grandma and walking towards the house, we saw one of the little feral kittens of the neighborhood sitting on our front porch.

"How cute!" of course was our first thought, but the kitten wasn't running, which was very different behavior for these kittens...and long story short, we ended up scooping up the kitty, picking up my 4yo from school and schlepping everyone up to the no-kill animal center that I linked to just before writing this post.

Sadly it seems that the kitten has distemper, it could be something else and we're hoping it'll be ok, but the prediction is that kitty might not make it through the night.

SO yesterdays gift was the family giving the kitty the best shot possible for living, if he/she does get better he/she will get vaccinated, altered, and returned to us either to be kept as a pet or released back outside as our friend. They explained to us that even if the kitty is released it will help reduce feral cats because the wild fixed cats will still be protective and reduce chances of more offspring.

We also took home some traps we are borrowing so we can hopefully get the other two kittens we've seen running around vaccinated and protect them from the distemper.
