Cami,

I just started reading your book and so far it has been a book I do not want to put down. I have suffered for many years with bipolar disorder and been though a journey that has brought me up and down many hurdles. Reading your book has inspired me and I will continue to read it to i am finished and will pass the book to others.

I have been inspired by reading your book and started on my first gift today. When shopping in a crafts store I had to ask for help to get a large red ribbon down from the wall. The store manager asked an older gentleman to get it for me. He looked like he was climbing the ladder a bit slowly and with some effort. It occurred to me to pull out a couple of dollars from my purse and give him a tip.

He was so shocked by the gesture that his whole continence changed from feeling a bit "put out" to smiling and thanking me and wishing me a Merry Christmas. Even as tired as I was shopping in the store for nearly forty-five minutes (which is a real challenge for me physically), I felt a lift and have played the scene back in my mind how utterly surprised he seemed to be for getting a small tip for climbing up that ladder to get my red bow.

I have fibromyalgia and post herpetic neuralgia (pain of Shingles that doesn't go away) and deal with pain every hour of the day, but hope to shift my focus from myself and my pain to making other's day a little brighter through 29 gifts. I began today!
Thanks for your work and am so happy to hear you are doing better. I just finished reading your book today and found it remarkable and challenging.

I LOVE your story!! I got SO excited after I heard your story that I cannot wait to begin to 'give'! I do tend to give a lot now and I feel that anything positive helps one move along a much better path.

I have had MS for 28 years and was told when I was diagnosed in November 1981 at Duke Univ. Med. Center that "I WOULD be totally confined to a wheelchair WITHIN FIVE YEARS". I had just turned 24 years old and I KNEW that just WOULD NOT HAPPEN!! I chose at that point to live my life in a 'Positive Manner" and to shun anything negative but to cling to the positive. After 28 years with MS (as of last month) I have never spent a day in a wheelchair and my friends LOVE "My 'Tude" (referring to my Attitude!!)! Sure, I get down some days because I've also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Myofascial Pain Syndrome, Chronic Pain, CFS and several others! One loses count after a while BUT I cannot "give in"! I also spend some days in bed but when I do feel like going, I GO!! ~ and I keep the Positive 'Tude!!

Bless You Cami. I love the manner in which your health changed so much. Indeed, I love your idea of giving and I would love to get on the bandwagon and make others smile like I know they would....especially this time of the year!!

Hugs!

Joni

What a wonderful, but powerful idea. I am ordering the book to gift friends.

Wonderful! Thank you for posting! This must be the TV show my first gift recipient must have been talking about when she said she saw the book on TV. I gave the 29 Gifts book (which I read 2 days prior to giving it as a gift) on day one of my 29-days-of-giving.

Today I truly begin the first day of the rest of my life. I start by encouraging myself to follow through.
